Updating information and shifting gears

Active-control study · 40 participants

What the study found

Forty participants completed a study comparing eight sessions of individualized frontal-midline theta neurofeedback with pseudo-feedback. The neurofeedback group improved working-memory updating and task switching, and the groups showed different changes in task-related theta activity.

Why it matters

These results show that targeted EEG training can influence specific executive processes and the brain activity used during cognitive tasks.
