Quantitative trends during continuous hospital EEG monitoring.

What the study found

In intensive-care recordings, quantitative EEG trends helped specialists locate periods needing closer review. Combining those trends with the original EEG shortened review time compared with reviewing the original EEG alone.

What this tells us

This study concerns prolonged hospital monitoring. Seizure assessment requires medical interpretation of the EEG; a routine resting brain map cannot rule out epilepsy. Quantitative displays support expert review rather than replace it.
