Coordination of electrical activity across brain regions.

What the study found

Researchers studied EEG coherence, a measure of how signals relate across recording sites. They identified patterns that distinguished chronic fatigue syndrome from comparison groups, with temporal-region coherence contributing strongly to the differences.

What this tells us

Brain mapping can examine relationships between regions as well as activity within them. This study focused on defined chronic fatigue syndrome, not every cause of tiredness.
