Alpha/Theta training for post-traumatic stress

Randomized waitlist-controlled pilot trial · 22 participants

What the study found

Participants were assigned to eight weeks of Alpha/Theta neurofeedback or a waitlist, with 16 training sessions. PTSD checklist scores improved more in the neurofeedback group: the reported group average fell from 44.3 to 19.4, compared with 35.1 to 31.0 in the control group.

How this relates to Alpha/Theta training

This small trial directly studied Alpha/Theta training. Its findings support further investigation of auditory brainwave feedback for trauma-related regulation; the comparison was with a waitlist, not sham feedback.
